Robyn Ferguson is a South African-based Prog prodigy who has taken the world by storm!
Shortly after releasing her album Falling Forward back in May 2020, Robyn is already back with another satellite EP called Harbinger
Harbinger is brilliantly constructed and lets you into her magical world that she calls Alizarin Chronicles. The album consists of two songs that differ from one another. The genre stays constant, yet the style and juxtaposition of the tracks compliment each other and share a small part of Robyn’s journey over the last year.
Robyn describes Harbinger as the “What If” album. The album reflects on Robyn’s commitment and constant hard work to succeed. Watts Audio Studio did a remarkable job on the production of the album and the song compositions are involved and complex. As a progressive solo artist, Robyn has made sure that her music takes you on a journey without words/lyrics.
The Visualiser for her song Premonitions could not have been any more adept. It aligns with a statement that she had said in an interview with Quintus and Baker: “I don’t want to tell anyone how to feel when they listen to my music”. The visuals are mesmerizing and beautiful throughout.
I recently had a chat with Robyn on my podcast, the Off Stage Podcast:
Robyn decided to become a solo artist about two years ago and since then released three incredible albums, she has had some uphill battles but she did not let that stand in her way. The solo artist has a brilliant team behind her, she is managed by David ‘Devo’ Oosthuizen from Devographic and endorsed by Ibanez. She is a strong ambassador for her strength in the music industry , and will not let her personal medical challenges stand in her way of creating music and sharing her story.
Robyn’s journey has only begun and there is no stopping her. We are anxiously awaiting to see what Robyn creates next.
